AELIS
The Land of the Undying Winter

A glacial wasteland, the icy expanses of Aelis are littered only by the occasional village or ramshackle town. These provinces are led and protected by Einhars, the oft-bloodthirsty heads of Aelisian raider bands. Despite the lack of proper government, the strict honor code that natives live by does manage to keep relative order - though this doesn’t stop them from attempting to steal from the Aeonian south. Those born with water rune markings here often wield powerful ice magic, a deadly advantage over their foes when paired with the brutal fighting style Aelis is known for.

AEON
The Penninsula of Contrasting Opulence

Aeon is the economical heart of Evenir, with the majority of the world’s trade and influx of resources relying on its maritime services. The water Magi born here can bend the oceans themselves to their will, ensuring calm seas for their own merchant vessels and unfortunate tempests for any competitors. The wealth Aeon accrues is far from evenly distributed, however, and the rich and poor within its borders live staggeringly different lives. Evenir’s universal currency, opals, are minted here.

AMPHITRITE
The Reef of Demigods

Within the Trident Pass Sea lies a sprawling underwater metropolis, one populated by a semi-aquatic humanoid species known as Amphi. As the moon waxes and wanes, the magic tied to Amphitrite itself also pulls in and draws out the tide that submerges it. The majority of Evenir’s marine life flourishes here, and those who call Amphitrite home care for these creatures and their environment as they do their own families and homes. Larsola, Rune Protector and Mother of Monsters, maintains a close relationship with the city, and it’s one of the few places she can be safely seen.

BELLANORE
The Shrouded Isle of Enchantment

Magically sealed away from the rest of Evenir, Bellanore is by far Evenir’s most isolated territory, as the majority of the world doesn’t even know of its existence. The isle is occupied and kept hidden by fae, Luxlings, and other mythical creatures of old who wish to protect themselves from the greed and corruption of the people of the outside world. Very few people are born or come to live here, and those who leave its borders may never return. Inhabitants spend their days in magical revelry, only loosely governed by fae courts to maintain the rules of entrance and exile.

CANDICOPIA
The Lost Isles of Sugar

Candicopia and its resident species, Sugarkin, are quite literally made up of sugar, spice, and everything nice. Powerful magic and technology from ages past holds together this artificial utopia, in which every flavor of Sugarkin has an assigned purpose in life and nothing is ever amiss. The true nature of its existence is known to very few - even to those who call it home. To protect this untainted civilization and the secrets within it, outsiders have been forbidden to enter, though Sugarkin are free to explore the outside world that was only recently opened up to them.

DULGARI
The Caldera of Sundered Ideals

In the southeastern recesses of Evenir lies the brutal wastes of Dulgari, a once-flourishing land of prosperity turned to sundered volcanic wasteland by divine punishment. Non-Magi rule supreme here in a harsh dictatorship, one in which Magi are put into a forced labor system to create the deadly magic-infused weapons wielded by Dulgari’s warriors. Their only ally is Feymore, and the two trade with each other extensively - though what Feymore receives in return for their patented Steel (other than opals) is a well-guarded secret.

DUSTRIDGE
The Opportunists' Chasm of Anarchy

The vast, dry canyon that halves the continent of Ma-Zamena has only begun to be populated in recent years, though not for the best of reasons. Feymorian steel companies quickly took root in Dustridge once Ichor ore was discovered there, and lower class Feymorians and Valorans soon followed suit to find work under them. Order is only barely maintained by the sheriffs sent by Feymore to protect their shipments, mostly from the wyvern-riding bandit gangs that have taken to stealing their Ichor and Runetech. Sandstorms often blow across the Vassirian Sea and funnel into the canyon, blocking out the blistering sun for days to weeks at a time.

FEYMORE
The Citadel of Unwavering Innovation

As the technology capital of the world, Feymore is responsible for much of Evenir’s innovation. The non-Magi scientists that call it home have used their rune crystal technology to create what is now known as Runetech, giving magic-like capabilities to individuals who are otherwise without them and powering various inventions to assist in everyday life. Their other greatest invention is that of the eponymous Feymorian Steel, a special metal alloy that can nullify magic. These two creations are their main airship exports, giving this intelligence-based society plenty of funding to expand their steel city.

THE KRAKEN ISLES
The Lawless Underbelly of Aeon

The cluster of small islands on Aeon’s western coast have become infamous over the years for their sea monsters and fierce marauders. Pirate lords are constantly battling for dominance over the ever-shifting Kraken Isles, and crime runs rampant in the dreary back-alley streets. Rejects from Aeon, Amphitrite, and all across northern Evenir often find their homes here, and the lords accrue most of their wealth from looting the former’s wealthy merchant ships. Their prowess over stormy seas and thievery makes them the biggest threat to Aeon’s stable economy.

LUNARTH
The Silver Capital of Tranquility

The serene, opaline fields and forests of Lunarth give way to storybook villages and townships, all named in homage to the moon that its natives so revere. The Crescent King rules eternally from his ivory castle in Selenium, presiding over a relatively peaceful kingdom - in this day and age, at least. King Dimitri lived through the centuries-long Celestial War, and has made it his sole purpose to prevent such bloodshed from ever occurring on Lunarthian soil again. Luenna, the world-famous School of the Magi, is housed here, nestled deep within the forests outside Selenium.

NAGONIA
The League of the Faithful and Free

The Solgaran and Valoran coasts are linked by a chain of once-volcanic tropical islands, all united under the title of the Nagonian League. Each governs slightly differently according to the whims and traditions of its resident chief, but all worship the god Bathal, who they believe to be the sole creator of all of Evenir. They pay homage to him through all manner of recreation, from singing and dance to the use of stimulants and drugs. Though they have had religious conflicts with Prymera in the past, they currently live in relative harmony with the rest of Evenir.

NYX
The Crown of Xhavira

The highest of Evenir’s territories in both longitude and altitude are the peaks of Nyx, a mountainous snowscape occupied only by the hardiest of people. One of its most notable landmarks is Mount Themis, Evenir’s tallest mountain, upon which lies the rune protector Xhavira and the celestial runestone. Despite being the birthplace of celestial magic, magic is only used for survival or in the face of grave danger, and spirits are treated as respected equals. The capital, Glacia, is situated near the northern border of Rhea and is ruled by a board of tribal elders who value tradition and pacifism. Outsiders or natives who cannot handle the harsh conditions of Nyx often immigrate to Rhea.

PRELOS
A Shadow of Evenir's Past

Beyond the ever-churning storms that prevent any safe entry or exit lies the island of Prelos, always cloaked in swirling darkness and stained with the touch of the Abyss. The Abyssal Runestone itself can be found here, along with the Children of Aolress who call it home - the ruling cult who all undergo monstrous transformations in a ritual dedicated to their former Protector. The highest-ranking officials of this religion, the Tainted Ones, oversee every single thing that takes place here, especially the essential use of non-Magi blood for their rituals. The magical storms surrounding it leave it a complete mystery to the majority of Evenir’s residents.

PRYMERA
The Land of Tradition and Faith

Prymera is a theologist republic built on the strict virtues of their religion, Fuyin, a polythesist belief in which four goddesses rule over all. Due to Prymera’s intensely religious nature, it has caused centuries of tension and warfare with countries such as Nagonia, but the country as a whole remains isolationist for the most part - especially in recent times. The capital, Kamachi, is a shining example of the piousness of Prymera, as it is filled with priests and disciples. Outside the city lies flat fields and misty mountain ranges that are covered in rice and lotus farms.

RAYUENO
The Airborne Isle of Celebration

Rayueno is the arts capital of Evenir, soaring high above the rest of the world like a massive earthen bird. On its periodic stops over other countries grand festivals are often held, and ground-dwellers can pay carriage-bird handlers for a ride up to the join in the party. Dancers in brightly-dyed beads and feathers, children wearing painted-skull masks, and bands weaving magic-infused melodies can be found aplenty in the colorful streets. Mastery of the arts is highly valued in this society, even going as far as to decide who has the most political power over the island. Arts academies of all different kinds can be found here, attended in droves by the many bird Valiri who call Rayueno home. Evenir’s most famous news organization, the Windour Press, has its base of operations here.

RHEA
The Proud Kingdom of Fables

Akin to Lunarth, Rhea exhibits a storybook quality with its Arthurian kingdom-esque landscapes, gallant knights, and elegant noble families. The two queens, Queen Bonnabelle the Second and her wife, the War-Queen Marcina, rule with a just hand to their own people, but also a fervent desire to conquer Nyx. The majority of the country’s magical power comes from the Celestial runestone and the spirits that it generates, which are to the Rheans nothing more than power sources that are treated as somewhere between servants and utilities. The country thrives on commerce with its bustling portside markets and constant trade with their biggest ally, Aeon.

SOLGARA
The Eternal Empire of the Sun

Power and glory are the two core values of this desert mesa. Solgara has a strong dependency on magic, and often turns a blind eye towards non-Magi as they believe them to be weak. With military power and strength being held in high esteem, travelers and natives flock to the country’s colosseums to watch its renowned gladiator fights. From the confines of a golden palace rules the Sol, an appointed leader that resides in the capital of Sett with Suhlmatar, the Sun runestone’s former Protector and Solgara’s patron deity. Many of the residents believe that Solgara is the unofficial capital of Evenir, and even their religion, Solis, justifies this belief to them. Luenna’s rival school, Soltere, is housed here.

Above all else, this is a land that values tradition, unity, and honor. With a bloody, conquest-filled past, the Unification of the country helped to cease wars between native Valoran tribes. VASSIR
The Cradle of Flowing Sands

Vassir is the birthplace of the Valiri race and air magic as we know it. The country is most well-known for its seas of billowing sand dunes and bustling open-air markets, which sell all manner of spices, silks, jewelry, and more. This desert cradle is ruled by a Valiri sultanate and its capital city, Al-Sarasem, maintains a familial relationship with the rune protector Zaharaga that blessed their Sultan with the right to rule. As the land is virtually unfarmable here, Vassir relies heavily on imports of supplies from other countries to sustain its population. Outside the bounds of Vassir’s cities, travelers must be wary of sand pirates and, closer to its shared border, Dulgari raids. One can never be too careful out on the dunes; after all, you never know what might be lurking beneath the sand…
